Let The Soccer In French Camp Begin
The second edition of Soccer in French started with great excitement at the University of Alberta French Campus. The 48 participants are discovering the world of futsal over seven sessions.
For two hours, the gym was transformed into a Brazilian soccer stadium where an abundance of spectators encouraged the players. Parents and grandparents came in large numbers to see the young champions, aged 4 to 8 years. Divided into two groups, the children followed the instructions of the four coaches, Giscard, Mohammed, Jean-Philippe alias “Coach JP” and Alejandro. Participating in warm-ups and rhythmic training sessions, mini-matches, and penalty-kick sessions brought a constant smile to the young players.
The children have the opportunity to practice soccer and the French language with these camp sessions. During this second week of camp, the children received their sports jersey with the Soccer en français logo embroidered on the front.
Why practice futsal this fall?
A growing sport in Canada, futsal is a unique form of soccer. Playing on a field the size of a basketball court, this discipline develops the control and the technique of players. In futsal, the small lined pitch constantly puts players under pressure from other players. In fact, Futsal enhancing the players’ offensive and defensive skills as opposed to having the flexibility to use the wall in conventional indoor soccer.
