Edmonton Fusion FC’s U13s take Bronze at Provincial Tournament

It was a great and unexpected party. The Edmonton Fusion FC U13 team finished 3rd in their first-ever Tier 4 provincial tournament, after winning their local championship. A superb achievement by our youngsters, given that the weather conditions were not optimal for playing due to the wildfires.

A victory that augurs well for the future.

Coach Lamine Niang expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance: “Our players showed that if they take things seriously, they can go far. Our group was made up of both experienced and inexperienced players. For some, it was their first season in soccer. We’re very proud of them.”
Weather conditions were far from ideal, with forest fires affecting air quality and temperatures. Despite this, our young players showed resilience and determination. They remained focused and motivated, which was crucial to their success. Their ability to adapt to difficult conditions is a testament to their commitment and passion for soccer.

A solid performance by the U13s

The Tier 4 provincial tournament, held in Edmonton, brought together teams from all over Alberta. After an intense group phase in which the Edmonton Fusion FC U13s faced teams from Edmonton, Calgary and Spruce Grove, they managed to qualify for the 3rd-place match. Their victory over Medicine Hat U13 was the crowning achievement of their efforts and perseverance throughout the tournament. This performance promises to bode well for the team’s future.

Our other youth teams have had a great season

Edmonton Fusion FC’s other youth teams involved in the 2024 outdoor season also had a good season. In addition to the U13s, who finished champions of their local league, the U11s finished 4th in a group of 14, and the U9s 4th in a group of 17 teams.

Community support

The success of the U13s and other Edmonton Fusion FC youth teams would not have been possible without the support of parents and community members. Their presence at games, their encouragement and help have been key motivating factors for the young players. The club would like to extend its warmest thanks to all those who contributed to this wonderful season. With this season crowned with success, Edmonton Fusion FC is already preparing for next season. The aim is to continue building on these solid foundations, offering young players development opportunities.
