What is Futsal ?

It’s no boarded soccer!

Futsal is a technical, quick-paced soccer game. It’s played indoor in a 40x20m pitch with small goals, 5 players (4 players and 1 goalkeeper) and an unlimited number of substitutions. The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure. Player touches about 80 balls per game. It’s 2x more than a full-scale soccer match. This makes this sport one of the best ways to develop skills and techniques that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game.

Edmonton Fusion FC is proud to promote and developp the game in the Alberta’s capital city in partnership with Sporting Montreal FC, the 2017 Canadian Champion.

Futsal is a spectacular sport!

  • It has more goals than soccer with the average of 6.8 goals per game.
  • A goal scored every 6 min.
  • A shot taken every 43 sec.

At Edmonton Fusion FC, we practice futsal that complements soccer but is also develop it has a game in its own right. We promote it as a player development tool. We are proud to practice and appreciate the positive impact this variation of soccer can have on the development of player’s technique, tactical understanding, coordination and agility.

Several soccer star have played this form of soccer in their youth, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Pele, Lionel Messi, etc. According to Pele: “It was important in helping to develop my ball control, quick thinking, passing….also for dribbling, balance, concentration.”
