The Superior Academy, based according to the Canadian Soccer Association Long Term Player Development Pathway, requires core fundamental training on kicking, control, dribbling, heading, tackling, goalkeeping and throw-ins. It is important for the player to become fundamentally proficient over time, promoting an efficient execution of technical acts and actions in various conditions, supporting better use of all fundamental abilities, and encouraging the next stages of development.

TRAINING TO TRAIN (U13)

The onset of the adolescent growth spurt for most kids during this stage is an ideal time for endurance training. Players (10-12 years old) are also introduced to concepts like mental preparation, goal setting, and coping with winning and losing while learning more advanced soccer skills, including position-specific techniques. Players in this program have years of soccer experience and want to perform better.

60-90 minutes – Led by former professional and certified staff coach.

Goalkeeper Training (U12)

Players can receive goalkeeper specific training in addition to participation in the regular program: shot-stopping (handling, holding, punching and reflex saves), footwork speed (agility, explosion, pressure saves, diving, reading the game), positioning (narrowing angles, breakaway situations, crosses and distribution).

TRAINING TO COMPETE (U15)

In this program, players (12 & 13 years old) are now working to hone their soccer skills under a variety of competitive conditions in an 11 v 11 game format that mirrors adult play. The commitment and concentration of players’ grows at this stage, which allows the coaching staff to be more demanding and to teach more advanced concepts of the game, such as developing collective tactics. Along with the continued refinement of advanced techniques, players work to develop their tactical awareness, discipline, and mental toughness.

This program is truly designed for the soccer first athlete. Players in this program have years of soccer experience and are ready to propel their development and game to the next level.

60-90 minutes – Led by former professional players and certified staff coach.

TRAIN TO WIN (U18)

This program is for youth in College or High Schools who would like to continue training at a high level. Participants will train with our men’s team and be exposed to some high-quality players and former professionals who will push them in every aspect of the game. The coaches also meet with each Senior Academy players to discuss their progress.

This training is tailored to a more serious approach to soccer training. The program offers a higher level of coaching with a strong focus on technical precision resulting in a demanding and intensive program. Any player can request a tryout and these evaluation sessions occur during team practices throughout the year.

Some players (if qualified and under certain conditions) can play competitive matches with the men’s team as part of their training at no extra cost.

90-120 minutes – Led by a former professional player and certified coach.
