May 14, 2017. Edmonton Fusion FC suffered an 8-2 loss against Pumas Old Boys in their first appearance in the Edmonton District Soccer Association (EDSA). The weather did not help with a very slippery field.
Faced with an experienced and technical team, Edmonton Fusion FC did not resist a long time against its first opponent. At half-time, the Pumas led 3-0 despite an improvement as of the 30th minute for Fusion. Pumas strikers continued to push up in the second half and scored two more goals (5-0). Fusion scored its first goal in the 58th minute by Anthony Lashley (5-1). The Pumas scored two more goals (7-1), before Fusion again found the target with Arni Hansen’s goal (7-2). The Pumas’ final goal came at the last second of the match (8-2).
“The most important thing is that the team had fun,” said Maher Elaissi, team captain. “We can be proud of ourselves despite the defeat. We must work on positioning.”
“The club was only created few weeks ago. We learn from each game and continue to look for players to complete the team,” explained Joris Desmares-Decaux, President of Edmonton Fusion FC.
Edmonton Fusion`s next game will be Tuesday, May 16th at 7 pm against Fiji Youth at Mount Pleasant 3.
