Defeated despite a solid second half
Edmonton Fusion FC suffered another loss against the well organized, technical and fast team of Adulis FC.
Edmonton Fusion FC started the game off on the wrong foot and conceded 5 goals in the first half. Moreover, Fusion lost the top scorer of the team, Zakaria Belhat, due to an ankle sprain which is going to take him out for the rest of the season.
Coach Carlos’ speech at half time gave a real boost and the team fixed its mistakes by bridging the gap between the defensive and midfield lines. Fusion used its wings a lot more than during the first half which allowed Ayo Oladapo to score two goals after a good series of passes. Adulis was then able to score on a quick counter attack before Ibrahim Warsame added a third goal for Fusion after a smooth transition of the ball from defense to strikers. With the score at 7-3, two minutes before the end of the game, Adulis was able to surprise Fusion with another goal on a counter.
“It’s okay if we lose, it feels great when we win, but the impressive reaction the team made in the second half proves that this group is coming together as a team,” said captain Kais Abid. “We have to look at the big picture here, which is building a good team,” he concluded.
