A beautifull first victory
May 18, 2017. For the second game of the season Edmontion Fusion FC got the first victory of its young history in official competition against Fiji Youth, 4-3.
Fusion was the first to a goal, scored by Mohammed Chourou in the 20th minute from a pass by TJ Lashley (0-1). The Fiji players reacted just after with a corner kick that challenged Fusion goalkeeper Joris Desmares-Decaux, who made a good save. However, he was not able to prevent Fidi`s goal a few minutes later (1-1). Despite this goal, Fusion gained the advantage with TJ Lashley assisted by Mohammed Chourou (1-2). The players of Fiji have had many opportunities without success and the Fusion goalkeeper made a decisive save before half-time.
A few minutes after the start of the second half, Mohammed Chourou scored his second goal with an assist by Marwen Bezza (1-3). Fiji then narrowed the margin (2-3). At the 71th minute, the referee signaled a penalty resulting in Marwen Bezza scoring the fourth goal for Fusion (2-4).
The Fiji Youth players upped their game and in the 83rd minute, in Fusion goalkeeper`s attempt to stop the ball, it bounced back on the striker who scored his team’s 3rd goal (3-4 ).
In a tense last portion of the game, the Fiji strikers could have equalized until the very last second of thegame. The referee ended the match just after the play.
Edmonton Fusion players were able to celebrate this beautiful but difficult victory.
